Massage therapy/Soft tissue therapy

Remedial massage

Remedial massage, treats musculoskeletal soft tissue conditions and teamed with Somatic movement therapies is a fabulous treatment protocol.

Treatment begins with an assessment to understand your presenting condition, pain and movement ability.

Body on the table I use multiple techniques to ease your aches and pains.

Techniques may include:  Myofascial release, Trigger point therapy, Deep transverse friction, active and passive stretching, heat and ice therapy, myofascial dry needling.

Irrespective of techniques used you will always get homework. Treatment is about empowering you to have control of your own movement story.

60 minute appointments.

Deep tissue massage

Deep tissue treatments are for people who need or want deeper tissue work. Firm and strong pressure using techniques to help downregulate your stress. and unwind those knots. Deep tissue work can be applied to any treatment or as an individual treatment.

60 minute appointments.

Relaxation Massage

Relaxation massage has been around as long as there have been people who need nurturing.  The earliest form of therapy, this treatment uses long, slow, flowing, rhythmical strokes to slow and relax. A wonderful treatment for people who live high stress lives or who experience anxiety or depression.

60 minute Appointments.

Massage for ME/CFS and FND

Massage for ME is generally a lighter less intense touch. FND will vary each session depending on where you are at on the day. Focus on downregulating a hypervigilant nervous system and reducing pain. Treatment includes techniques from the relaxation repertoire, shiatsu, and lighter remedial work. Duration and techniques adjusted for the energy limits of the individual and vary from fifteen (15) minutes to one hour (60 min). A mobile service is available on application for housebound people. Fee on application.

Massage for FND is focussed on balancing the nervous system and reducing pain. It uses all techniques appropriate for the individual but includes more active and passive left right brain movements in the treatment.

Myofascial dry needling

Myofascial dry needling (MFDN) is different to acupuncture in that it does not treat meridians or energy systems. It directly treats active myofascial triggerpoints.  MFDN used in conjunction with other soft tissue therapies helps to release points of pain faster than simple manual techniques on their own. It is a useful technique to relieve pain without using medications.
